A staff suggestion scheme is a good way to get new ideas that may benefit the firm and the best part is that it isn’t difficult at all to implement. The easiest manner in which such a scheme can be put into place is through the use of a suggestion box. Many companies employ this method because employees tend to feel at ease when they can write down suggestions in their own time and pace and do so informally. However other companies use other ways to make the most of a staff suggestion scheme.

One of the most common ways in which this is done is through the use of a suggestion form. These forms are usually made available on the workplace’s intranet. For those employees who do not have access to that intranet for any reason, these forms are delivered to them upon request. Once the forms have been filled out, they are to be handed into the manager of the staff suggestion scheme.

There is always an employee suggestion program in place. Every employee who sends in a suggestion is sent a note of thanks and acknowledgement. The manager of the scheme then works his way through all the suggestions and assesses them against the evaluation criteria. The suggestions that have merit are placed together then.

The manager of the staff suggestion scheme then makes contact with the heads of those departments to whom the suggestions of potential are related. Then a decision is taken as to whether the suggestion should be taken up or not. If it is taken up, then it is referred to the Award panel for further evaluation.

Awards for the used suggestions may vary in their nature. Usually companies offer a small monetary reward such as fifty dollars. Some will offer a lot more. In fact many companies have been known to give out as much as $10,000 to people to who have given suggestions that have resulted in big financial gains for the employer company. Obviously with such big incentives, it is likely that the suggestions coming in will be given a lot of thought.
